Led by the Spirit of God Church, affectionately known as The Led Church, was officially organized on November 5, 1995, under the leadership of Pastor Alphonso L. Montgomery. The Board of Directors elected elders from within the congregation. Incorporated with the Secretary of State, Led Church is a non-denominational, Full Counsel of God, Word of Faith, Christ-centered ministry where people of every background can freely worship God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and encounter the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit.
A Vision Rooted in Family & Faith
Pastor Alphonso Montgomery, founder and visionary, and his wife, Lady Monique Montgomery, have faithfully served God together since the inception of the ministry. They have three children—Christopher, Phalon, and Ashia. Seeing the decline of family structure in the city, state, and nation, Pastor Montgomery and his family accepted God’s call to restore and strengthen families through the power of the Gospel. Their mission remains clear: to bring healing, restoration, and wholeness to families. They continue to lead God’s people with the mission of being “The Church Where Jesus Makes Families Whole.”
LED'S HISTORY
From Evangelist to Pastor
The journey began in 1987, when Minister Alphonso Montgomery accepted his evangelistic call at Waters Temple Church of God in Christ under Elder Vernon Briscoe. He later served faithfully at Trumpet in Zion Ministries under Apostle Lawrence Braggs. In 1993, God gave Minister Montgomery a prophetic word: “You and your wife, prepare for ministry in two years.” Soon after, family prayer meetings began in the home of his parents, Willie and Earnestine Montgomery, where God’s presence moved powerfully and ministry gifts were stirred within the family.
The Birth of The Led Church
In March 1995, following a serious semi-truck accident, Pastor Montgomery was hospitalized for several days and required therapy for four and a half years. Upon returning home, he heard the Lord say, “Start a pastoral ministry focused on deliverance and healing families.” After much prayer, the family gathered to seek confirmation—and together, they committed to being part of the ministry.
The first planning meeting took place in September 1995 with Pastor Alphonso and Lady Monique Montgomery, Deacon and Mrs. Willie & Earnestine Montgomery, Minister Dexter Perkins, and Minister Willie Montgomery, Jr. A month later, through the suggestion of Minister Victor Wynn, God opened the door for the new church to worship at the Adult Leisure Center on 12th Street in Little Rock.
On November 5, 1995, Led by the Spirit of God Church held its first official worship service, with seven adults and four children becoming charter members. The journey had begun.
Growth & Establishment
After four months, the congregation moved to a storefront location at 3320 Mabelvale Pike in March 1996, where they worshiped for five years. Under the creative leadership of Minister Dexter Perkins, Sister Earnestine Montgomery, Lady Monique Montgomery, and others, the storefront was transformed into a beautiful place of worship.
In January 1999, the church ordained its first elder and continued to grow in faith and number. By August 2000, The Led Church transitioned to Faith Christian High School, merging with Destiny Worship Center for a season of shared ministry. Soon after, God made a way for Led Church to purchase its own building.
On the first Sunday of August 2001, before the closing was even finalized, the congregation held its first worship service in their new church home—a true testament to God’s favor and provision!
Continuing the Legacy
Since moving into its permanent location, Led by the Spirit of God Church has continued to thrive. The building was remodeled, the congregation grew, and the ministry expanded its reach—impacting lives through fervent intercessory prayer, powerful praise and worship, and the prolific Word of God.
Over the past two decades, countless men, women, and children have been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Led Church and its leadership remain a beacon of light in the Little Rock community and beyond, bringing hope, healing, and restoration.
Our foundational scripture is:
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)
As a body of Christ, we faithfully trust that God has more for our congregation, for He has never failed us. Like the prophet Samuel, God has used our Bishop and Visionary, Apostle Alphonso Montgomery, whose words have never fallen to the ground—each prophetic word has been divinely backed and fulfilled.
A New Chapter
As we enter our third decade of ministry, we celebrate the fruit of the Spirit that continues to flow through the anointing of Christ. In the summer of 2025—just months before the 30th Anniversary of Led Church—Apostle Montgomery shared that the next dimension of God’s glory involves his transition into full-time Apostolic work as the overseer of Led Church and the Apostolic Kingdom Alliance.
He announced this transition as a planned, healthy step for the church’s continued growth under the leadership of Pastor Larry D. Yarbrough and his wife, Lady Shaneil. Together, Apostle Montgomery, Pastor Yarbrough, and their wives remain committed to continuing the Led Church vision: to perfect families within the body of Christ, rooted in three primary principles—empowering believers, equipping families, and extending the love of God to all, to the glory of God.
